Overview of the Program
Academic excellence, community services and research-based pursuit are the three important wings of any academic institution. The program recognized and started its work actively since 2017 with an extension and regular programme in three campuses, namely Bokoji, Assella. Since its inception, the program has been serving the university, the region and the country at large by creating opportunities for those employees who lack upgrading opportunities, conducting problem solving researches and providing community services. Currently, three programs are running in the program namely regular BVSc, extension and winter (off season) programs. In addition to these programs, the program is currently working vigorously and expanded its training programs at different levels in various areas of veterinary medicine and related science to meet emerging societal needs. The number of current academic staff 9 where 8 are males and the remaining 1 is females. In addition to the existing staffs, 6 instructors are requested for recruitment. Among the total are 9 instructors, 3 are PhD candidate and 6 holders of Masters Degrees. Besides, the number of support staff members is four. A total of 246 students have graduated in the continuing education and 39 students in regular program. Currently, it has diversified its programs. In the undergraduate program, the enrollment has grown to 209 in the weekend, 82 in regular, and 40 in summer program. It has also planned to launch post graduate programs in Masters of Vet Epidemiology and Economics (MVEE), Vet Public Health (MVPH), and Vet Microbiology (MVMB). As a result, the total enrollment has reached to 331.

Vision: Program vision is to be one of the top ten leading animal health and production problem-solving institutes in farmers’ community development in East Africa by 2035.
Mission: The Mission of the program is to produce competent graduate with, conduct problem-solving research, provide need-based community and consultancy services through innovative and creative education so as to foster livestock and agriculture based economic development of Ethiopia.
Core values: Program core values are: Students first, commitment, strive for quality, teamwork and solidarity, community centered, innovation, committed to professional ethics, respect for diversity, and work for animal welfare.
